Hi, I’m Jonathon, creator of Shift Protocol — a brand born from a lifelong obsession with military aviation, motorsport, and the machines that push the limits of performance and design. As an engineer by trade and a photographer by heart, Shift Protocol evolved to fuse technical precision with artistic expression.
Based in Newcastle NSW, Australia, I am within easy access of Sydney, and the soon-to-open tracks Circuit Italia, and the Black Rock Motor Resort.
I purchased my first SLR camera in 2005. What started as a hobby quickly became an obsession: capturing the raw energy of Formula 1 cars, the thunder of V8 Supercars, and the sleek aggression of fighter jets in flight still makes me excited 20 years later!
I’m not a full-time racer, but I know the thrill of the track. A couple of track days each year in my hot hatch and regular karting sessions keep me connected to the driving experience. That perspective helps me frame every shot with authenticity — I know what it feels like to chase the perfect lap.
